Indie Comic Review: Night of 1,000 Wolves #1

There are very few times when horror works for me in comics.  I can count on one hand the number of times a comic has actually made me shiver.  I just added another finger today for Night of 1,000 Wolves.

“In the Dark Ages, the tranquil life of Harrick Benjyon and his family is shattered by unthinkable tragedy. Before they can react, the family find themselves under seige by hordes of wolves with one aim. Death. A race for survival becomes all the more impossible by the arrival of the supernatural… and the dark secrets that lie at the heart of the Benjyon family”.

The storytelling is fast paced, giving readers a dose of horror before slowing things down again to let the true magnitude of the situation  sink in.  the old legend meets the present reality.

The real star of the book is the art.  Dave Wachter breaks out with art that is terrifying!  The colors are muted and seem to run together, dragging the reader’s eyes all over the page, scanning for the next dangerous attack.  His wolves are ferocious and his people truly look terrified!

This is what a horror comic should be.  It is scary, gruesome, and leaves you with a cliffhanger ending that is truly frightening.  Be sure to pick up a copy today!
