And, if you are going to submit a comic to a publisher, First Second’s Gina Gagliano has the most straight-forward explanation of the submission process you will read anywhere!!
What I found particularly interesting about her piece was that it treated established creators and new creators equally. So often the advice to established creators is “meet us at a con” and the advice to new creators is “get published somewhere else and then meet us at a con”. Gagliano makes it a bit more realistic, as well as achievable by breaking down what a pitch letter should look like for creators at all levels as well as what should actually be submitted along with the letter.
